Leah Jørgensen Cellars:

“Making pretty wines in the Pacific Northwest, one barrel at a time. 100% inspiré par les vins de Loire!”

Leah Jørgensen created her own interpretations of Loire style wines based on site selection, taking a close look at what the vintage is giving her. She has worked in every capacity of the wine industry (aside from vineyard management) for the past fifteen years. Leah knew she wanted to make wine the moment she visited Oregon, although she initially had an inclination to ferment grape juice back when she worked at a small winery in Virginia. It took her only a decade to realize that dream. The desire to work with Oregon fruit is definitely a nod to her father’s agricultural roots, as he grew up on a small family farm outside of Eugene. Her ultimate dream is to buy that land back one day, plant a vineyard and name it after her grandparents. Leah’s passion for the Loire Valley stems from her experience working for the distributor that represented Louis Dressner Selection in her hometown of Washington, DC.

  • Oregon “Tour Rain” 2015: This wine is inspired by the Touraine red blends from France’s Loire Valley that are centered around Gamay Noir. This version is 40% Gamay Noir and 60% Cabernet Franc. Two vineyards and two appellations make up this blend. The Cabernet Franc is from Mae’s Vineyard, which is located in Southern Oregon’s Applegate Valley. The Gamay Noir was sourced from Havlin Vineyard, which is situated in the east end of the of the Willamette Valley’s Van Duzer Corridor in the Perrydale Hills. Both vineyards are sustainably farmed and are L.I.V.E. certified. Pleasant aromatic balance of peppery and cherry notes, raspberry, hibiscus, rose petals, cedar, cigar box, and flavors of cherry, cocoa powder, clove, roasted bell pepper, juicy with rich tannins. Enjoy slightly chilled with barbecue, smoked salmon, charcuterie/cheese boards, or kabobs.
  • Cabernet Franc 2015: From two vineyards in Southern Oregon, Crater View Ranch and Sundown Vineyard, both L.I.V.E. Certified, they were harvested in late September and fermented slow and steady. Wine is aged in mostly used French oak barrels, alongside some stainless steel, and given three months to complete malolactic fermentation. This wine has a beautiful silky texture, soft tannins, and shows the characteristics of Loire Valley-style Cabernet Franc to great advantage! Enjoy this slightly chilled with a wide range of food from roast pork and wild game hens to black lentils and cheese & spinach quiche.

Script Cellars:

Script Cellars was formed in November of 2010 during a trip to Walla Walla Washington when 4 friends decided to pursue the production of premium wines. Winemaker, Bradford Cowin, a distinguished Sommelier, had previously worked for esteemed wineries including R. Stuart & Co., Andrew Rich Vintner, Williams Selyem and Long Shadows Wineries. In order to form Script Cellars, he partnered with fellow Sommelier, Frederick Armstrong, and wine enthusiasts Ken and Cheri Hick. They have focused site selection and have partnered with some of the best vineyards in Washington State.

  • Exordium Cabernet Sauvignon 2012: Their flagship wine is full bodied 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that is elegant, yet powerful. It is a single vineyard bottling from the Weinbau Vineyard, Wahluke Slope AVA in Washington State that was fermented in open top stainless steel before being aged in barrel for 28 months (50% New & 50% Second Use French Oak Barrels). It’s nose is full of cherries, pipe tobacco, and sweet spicy compote. The bright acidity helps to reveal a world of flavors from red currant to tart cherry. It has nice length and firm dry tannins on the finish. This is a wine to savor with a great steak. (100 case production)
  • Stage Right Bordeaux-Style Red Blend 2013: A blend of 50% Cabernet Franc (Two Blondes Vineyard, Yakima Valley AVA), 34% Merlot (The Benches Vineyard, Horse Heaven Hills AVA), and 16% Cabernet Sauvignon (Dionysus Vineyard, Columbia Valley AVA) that is reminiscent of the Bordeaux’s Right Bank. It has spent 28 months in barrel (40% New & 60% Second Use French Oak). Appealing scents of green herb, dark cherry and barrel spice are followed by plentiful cranberry and cherry flavors. It shows an exquisite sense of balance along with a lengthy finish. (150 case production)
