Tonight we are exploring some of the other aspects of Old Town Cellars’ portfolio! In previous tastings, we have explored their European wines, tonight we are going to explore their American selections with wines from California, Chile, and Argentina. Stop by from 5-7p to explore these cool & interesting wines!

The Wines:

  • Vina Chocolan Gran Reserva “Origen” Sauvignon Blanc 2015: This 100% Sauvignon Blanc is from a single vineyard located in Malvilla, San Antonia Valley in Chile, along the coast. It was manually harvested during the second week of April and was cold macerated for 48 hours before fermentation in 10% oak and 90% stainless steel. After fermentation, the wine rested on the lees. This is a wine that really speaks of Chilean terrior! It is minerally and green peppery with a subtle touch of white pepper and gooseberries. This fresh and intense wine has good acidity and nice weight that makes it ideal for a range of foods: try it with oysters, octopus, Parma ham, goat cheese with chili, garden salads, or stuffed peppers.
  • Fleur Pinot Noir Rosé North Coast 2017: Welcome to one of the first 2017 California Rosés! Fleur de California is the second label for Mahoney Vineyards in Carneros, who have been producing wine there for over 40 years (and the Fleur label has 25+ years under its belt). For both wines, they micromanage the vineyards, because they believe that the best wines are the result of a great deal of foresight in the vineyards. In the Mahoney Vineyards and Fleur wines, you will find a common theme: drinkability. That is especially true in this Rosé! A bright pink color and classic style with floral and fruit aromas of fresh strawberry, raspberry, and honeysuckle. This Rosé will leave you with a mouth-watering finish that is very refreshing and palate cleansing. If you are ready to fire up the grill, try this with some simple grilled fish or chicken.
  • Aymara Reserva Barrel Selection 2015: This is a fun blend of 40% Malbec, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Cabernet Franc that was manually harvested and classically fermented with native yeasts with a long maceration. The wine was then aged in new French oak barrels for 12 months before bottling. The resulting blend is a full-bodied and intense wine of ruby-purple color and deep aromas of ripe plum and berries. On the palate, it has layers of ripe black fruits and cocoa. Great supple tannins and a long finish round out an experience that would be great to pair with beef dishes, tomato sauces, and sharp cheeses.
  • Fleur Petit Sirah North Coast 2013: Their 10th release of Fleur Petit Sirah, it is sourced primarily from vineyards in the Suisun Valley AVA. Their wines exhibit true varietal character and showcase the unique qualities that the appellations bring to the wines. They work with the wines from the vineyard all the way to the bottling line, rather than following the ebb and flow of various wine trends! This Petite Sirah will surprise many with its approachable tannins and deep and developed flavors. Displaying intense aromas of blueberries, peppercorn, and nutmeg, this purple-hued wine looks foreboding in the glass, yet once in the mouth, it explodes across the palate with bright flavors of blackberries, vanilla, spice, and a hint of black pepper while the tannins are soft and velvety. This 100% Petit Sirah is a great match for chicken in mole sauce, aged gouda, and authentic barbecued anything!spring
