Schlossbrauerei Stelzer is a very traditional private family brewery from Upper Franconia, Bavaria, in a small village called Fattigau. The brewery dates back to 1353 with a variety of owners having brewed quality beer. In 1909, the current owner’s grandfather, Christian Michael Stelzer, acquired the brewery. They brew according to traditional recipes and methods using the best local malts and hops. During the main fermentation, their beers are fermented in the fermentation cellar with classical cold fermentation. In the storage cellar, the young beer matures at low temperatures. This is classic Bavarian lager from the region with the highest density of breweries in the world!
They are also the first brewery in Upper Franconia to use organic ingredients in their beers. The ‘Bioland’ label can be found on several of their beers and is the leading association for organic farming in Germany. In addition to the agricultural aim, the ‘Bioland’ label focuses on social responsibility by establishing sustainable jobs and maintaining a living culture in the country.
All beers are brewed according to the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516.
- Urtyphell: A straw-blonde lager that typifies Bavarian beer-making. It is “Bavarian” beer! The hop to malt balance in this beer pair well with fish, seafood, and chicken. It’s lightly bottom-fermented. The golden hue and honey aroma combined with its slightly citrusy taste, make it a perfect year-round beer. 4.7% ABV
- Bio-Perle: This is one their organic offerings with the finest Bavarian malt and hops with Bioland certification. The clear golden color matches perfectly with the refreshing crisp taste of this Pilsner. Easy on the palate and something that will work with just about any food, it is great anytime! 4.7% ABV
- Schloss Export: A pale lager with a crisp finish. The honey, earthy aroma moves to a sweet, malty finish and a bitter, hop finish. This slightly stronger beer is for when you need to sit back, relax, and enjoy. 5.5% ABV
- Rittertrunk: An amber with a deeper malt flavor that blends with notes of caramel and roasty/toasty bits. Don’t let the clear, polished brown color trick you, as this beer is soft with a very smooth body. This is beer for dessert! 5.5% ABV
